I usually avoid talking about evil
I usually avoid talking about evil (the dark source). I choose to focus on spreading the good word, but sometimes, you just feel propelled to do so.
On another FB page, the definition of the word, Satan, was brought up. The scholastic meaning: ‘Accuser, adversary or to oppose’ was mentioned, and I agree with that. The author asked how others might define it. That question inspired me to further define the word as I understand it:
Satan:
Those Persons, Actions, Energies and Entities that:
• Oppose or are the adversary of our primary source, God the Father,
• Oppose our primary purpose, to love each other, to learn about life and God in such a way that enhances our love and light according to 'the will of God,'
• Attempt to block our souls from our return to Heaven to be with God for eternity.
Now, I must admit to my true point for writing this. One FB commenter said that Satan, as an actual entity that defies God, doesn’t exist. That such a supernatural entity was made up by Christians as a way to frighten and control others. Though I respect her as a human being to have a differing opinion, I disagree with her statement.
Satan as an evil entity/spirit is mentioned in all three major Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam, as well as in similar descriptions in essentially every culture in the world.
The definition of the word Satan can be in thought, word or action: Example: In Peter 16, Jesus told the apostles that he would have to suffer, and be crucified but would later be resurrected, at which point, Peter rebuked Jesus saying, this will never happen to you. To which Jesus responded, Get behind me, Satan. Peter's mind was too focused on what was going to happen on earth vs. the prophecy to be fulfilled per God's will—to save us. Now Peter was obviously not Satan but his earthly mindset had temporarily 'opposed' the will of God.
But I am specifically talking about Satan, as an entity or evil spirit:
‘…And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan…’ (Revelations 12:9).
‘…In my name shall they cast out devils…’ (Mark 16:17)
This entity called Satan is nothing new, and has been mentioned in writings dating back over 2,000 years. Most of us are familiar with these stories. That said, the concept is a little tough for most of us. Face it; it’s frightening. The idea that there is a hierarchy of evil demons that exist on earth and that said evil has a leader who is referred to as Diablo, devil, Lucifer, or Satan just about takes your breath away.
Some exorcists claim to have spoken directly to Satan during an exorcism. I have no reason not to believe them.
I have worked in the field of spiritual warfare for several years and I could tell you any number of experiences. I had a man come into my dreams a few years ago who I knew to be Satan. Let me tell you, they don’t need to introduce themselves; you just know. He was letting me know that he had ‘eyes on’ my activities. Because I now trust completely in the Lord and in his protection, I have not had any fear of such interactions—though it does make the heart race.
One night while casting out an evil entity at a private home, it began to break windows and throw things around the house, to include our Crucifix. We worked diligently at removing the unseen, and without anyone knowing we were there, three religious women appeared in the midst of the battle, and stood outside the home and prayed. How would they have known we were exorcising that house at that exact time and day? Long story short, it was cast out.
By no means am I attempting to frighten anyone. I am just saying; don’t be led into believing that Satan doesn’t exist. He does. And to those who insist on spreading around that he doesn’t, I say to them: Get behind me, Satan.
Be alert and sober minded. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (from 1 Peter). But we don’t need to be afraid, nor even concerned! Because we can resist him, by ‘standing firm in the faith.’ And know if you are suffering, you are not alone. Everyone who seeks the Lord will undergo some resistance and temptation from the dark source. Hang on to Jesus in prayer with all your heart, all the way to eternity.
